JMS Corporation, the developer of the Motion Muddler, is a flow meter manufacturer that has been producing flow meters/agitators for many years.
The shape of the Motion Muddler was developed using JMS Corporation’s fluid technology.
We have adopted a special plate shape for optimum agitation.
Fluid passing through this plate generates a Karman vortex in front of and behind the plate, creating a circular flow. This circular force is used to achieve unprecedented stirability.
Agitators using this plate are used in water supply, sewage, and chemical plants, and this same technology has now been applied to the cocktail industry.
Supervision by Mr. Nagatomo of Bar Oscar.
The Motion Muddler was developed under the supervision of Mr. Nagatomo of Bar Oscar, a board member of PBO (Professional Bartenders Organization).
Motion Muddler started when the chairman of JMS and the factory manager tried to make a muddler out of a scrap piece of a flow meter for fun.
This muddler was brought to Mr. Nagatomo for evaluation, but the first prototype failed because the alcohol did not mix using the muddler at all.
This ignited the spirit of craftsmanship in the chairman and the factory manager, and they brought the improved prototype to Bar Oscar again and again, making full use of JMS’s technological capabilities.
Mr. Nagatomo, who was skeptical at first, came to sympathize with the improved muddler and the spirit of craftsmanship that had been achieved by applying the technology.
Finally, a muddler that met Mr. Nagatomo’s requirement was completed, and the Motion Muddler was born.
Technical Background through University Collaboration.
‘Mixing’ is very fuzzy and qualitative.
We took on the challenge of analyzing the motion muddler’s stirring force, or “mixing force,” from a scientific perspective.
Also, we asked Professor Saeki of Yamaguchi University, Japan’s leading expert in stirring force analysis, to conduct the analysis, and succeeded in proving, analytically, the power of the Motion Muddler through a scientific approach.
Stylish Design
The heart of the Motion Muddler, the plate part, has an unprecedented stylish streamline shape, for which we have obtained design rights. The novelty of the design and the ease of creation have been highly evaluated.
